When i entered English class on August 12 at first i was kinda nervous because i thought it was a mixed grade class so i enter and see some faces i have never seen before. i take a moment to look around the class trying to find for an available sit while every one chatting or on their phones in groups .Bell rings and dr. preston starts the class by explaining us how this course will run and how it will be different. After he explained some of the resources i started to imagine how chill the class will be.when we started working with journals it was a challenge to me at first, i didn't do that well with expressing myself with details nor writing more half a page. From all the confusing articles we read and poems it started to add up and it helped me get better at expressing my self and making connections. The articles helped me a lot from getting better at making connections with my thoughts.  The challenges that made me struggle the most were memorizing poetry and posting videos on the blog.  Its a challenge because i have no strategies reciting poetry's and plus i am bad at memorizing things.

I'm a different learner from August because i have learned a lot at expressing my thoughts

Yes there is some things that inspire to think and act different.  In the beginning of the article when Emerson said about if you don't express your idea someone else will express it for you and get credit and you wont even if you thought about it first.  Be first to say it even if its wrong or right or even it become a jackpot.

My first impression of self-reliance is that everyone is programmed to a system that we have our own beliefs and ascribe to express it.  If we don't start talking what we know someone else will steal that idea by doing it and is going to take credit.

Let Me Walk You Through The Pedestrian

In this story "The Pedestrian" written by Ray Bradbury's shows how Mr. Leonard experiences and feels how technology is taking over society and making everyone become more independent.  The character of Mr.Leonard is him being lonely and when he takes walks nightly he never sees or meets a person walking.  Another thing is how the authority in this story it is so dominant.

In this story  the tone is loneliness. Technology is taking over humanity in the future. Everyone is becoming more independent and attached to electronic devices.  When Mr. Leonard leaves his home and takes walks nightly alone he notices behind every window there is someone stuck inside their homes with a flicker light always on, in front of them.  Another thing he notices it's only him outside on the empty and silent streets. When Bradbury says "In ten years of walking by night or day, for thousands of miles, he had never met another person walking, not one in all time."  He sees the power of technology taking over. 

The character in this story is Mr. Leonard being the only human being enjoying outside/nature that sees everyone.  An the authority is when he gets stop by a robotic police car that interrogates him why is he walking alone at night.  So the police doesn't convey with his answers and arrests him and takes him no reason.  When the Leonard responds to the robotics saying "' i guess you'd call me a writer"' and the robotic replies with "' no profession."'

The plot of this story is Mr. Leonard against society, the future.  It shows how technology is taking over where people remaining inside their homes watching television rather than going for a walk just like him.  Also when a robotic police stops him and arrests him for no reason.

So This Guy Goes For A Walk

On my perspective view Ray Bradbury wrote this story because he wanted to predict or how it will be like in the future. For example, when he goes for walks in the evenings alone on his neighborhood he notices that everyone is stuck inside their homes watching television/technology. Also, another thing in the ending of the story shows how the police officer interrogates him asking him questions that doesn't convey to the officer because i think from the officers respective mind view he questions himself "why is this man still doing all this literature thing when it's all dead nowadays" and i think that is the reason why he gets arrested for doing all this old fashion thing.

Story Of A Life

A scary event that occurred to me that i can make it into a short film or story was when i was when my pops and I, were driving on Los Alamo's highway heading home (Santa Maria). My pops was driving on the left lane of the highway road going the limited speed 65 and i was seating on the passenger seat, both of us listening to the radio. Not far form our sight we see a sheriff chilling on side of the road on our lane side. Few seconds later we hear a lunch truck that speeding over the limited speed going around 80 miles p/hr crossing every car in front. When we reach to the close the sheriffs car, the lunch truck gets behind us and crosses to the right lane other side from us and from there i think he sees the sheriffs car chilling on the side and tries to slow the vehicle but i think he loses control from going fast. From losing control of going fast the vehicle swirls to the left, hits the side of the road and spins 360 three times in the air in front of the sheriffs car. When it landed on the side stood up, the back part where it carries its goods was totally destroyed and the snacks were spread everywhere. I could turn this scene into a racing story/film.

Three things you need to know before having a conversation. The first most important thing you need is to maintain a kind and funny behavior so the conversation could contrast to each other. For example, replying a text from the head, heart, and soul.

One out of 2 new things i learned today in my group is how they didn't use images to help them out to define the words simpler and easier.

The Value of My Time

So today in class the teacher talked to us of how we should use our time to improve in class. Some ideas that I learned is how I could invest in myself to help me go the right way is to ask for help if we're stuck on an assignment. Some investments I will do from now on to achieve my future goals is to finish all my assignments on time so I could stay organized.

How I Read

Some notes I wrote down was that the word amateur means love that comes from a French of the Latin "ama"teur. So the word amateur defined means some that loves doing their talent without getting paid while others doing the same talent getting paid but don't love what their doing they just do it for the money$. My first impression was most in the middle of the article when the painting was famous for its many layers of colors on a sheet thin like a hair. Also another impression is how its difficult to find a read we like that will have us amazed and read the whole book. But if we don't have the time finding the perfect book we could at least read something that we could understand whats going on.

Investing In Me

hmmm...after high school i have no idea how i'm going to start fundraising my life. I'm still one year away and close from graduating high school. But i need to start having ideas from other graduate high school rs. 

First Impression Of A Dream

My first impression of the poem was that it was related to the journal and it was just a dream. It made me feel nothing. Yes, the poem did bring up the journal topic. The word that came on mind was the "dream".

My Essay Essay

  Hawthorne communicates this theme between evil and faith. In the story Young Goodman Brown a religious man that believes in faith leaves his wife in town and goes for a walk to the forest where he's meeting up with an old man which later is known as the devil. Brown argues with him while sun is setting down and encourages brown to take the staff which the old man is using to walk but brown refuses to take it. Brown forwards when he hears noises in the woods and takes himself in. When he gets called by the devil he sees faith. The author makes the story whether it was a dream or real it, changed browns whole entire life.
  Symbolism was used several times in the beginning of the story making the characters with happiness. Symbolism means a representations of something in a symbolic form to add deeper meaning to a story. For example, a symbolic image that was used in the story was the pink ribbon. The pink ribbon represented faith so the color pink associated with innocence and the ribbon means humble. At the end of story when brown returns to the village from the forest he sees his wife wearing pink ribbons he wants to her to return the innocence back as in the beginning of the story.
  Tone was also used in the story. Tone in literature means that the author expresses his attitude through writing using syntax and diction. The tone in this story is darkness and the forest and it was used very quickly. When the author used it was when he got to his destination to the forest it started to get dark, he couldn't see nothing but his shadows. For example, when the author said "it was all lonely as it could be; and lonely footsteps" (Paragraph 8 line 8).
  In conclusion

Young Old Good Bad

I think Hawthrone wrote the story "Young Goodman Brown" to express himself something that might happened to him in real life. Dreams can foreshadow/help you solve problems in future life. 

Stephen King was so affected by the story because he knows what humanity can do to you even if they act nice to you. Human beings know how to hide behind your back. The power of our imaginations is so powerful that we can look at things that we might not know but our mind does it feels that touch that it helps us figure things out.  

My Thesis Statement

Main point of essays is to express yourself and be understood so the readers can understand the writer or characters perspective view. I think its easier to reflect on a story with prompt because it helps you imagine how the character is feeling or what his/their going through.

Young Goodman Brown Questions

1. I think Hawthorn's purpose for writing this story was that everyone has an evil in them, no one is perfect.
2. I disagree that his wife is aptly named "Faith" because when he went to the fire evil meeting he saw his wife with the pink ribbon on. Brown noticed that everyone in the village looked at him differently the next day even his wife.
3.I think the pink ribbons signify faith but a way i see is that it took him to reveal every one's innocence.
4.in the story it doesn't says if its a dream or real but in my opinion Browns witnessed is real because in the story it says that the next day everyone looked at him evil and this makes me notice that's real.
5. The old man is the devil. The old man offers brown to touch the staff to make him walk faster to his destination but its the way to make brown join the devil.
6.Staff represents evil. I think the staff kept him going onward.
7. If brown stayed home he would be the same and believe in faith and still trust his wife and the people in the village.

Having The Time Of My Life

A way i can understand my time use to improve the decisions i make about how i use my time is making a schedule of everyday being organized and doing the most important tasks first. Another task is doing everything with a mind and body full of natural energy and to play a smart role in life to become successfully.

So This Guy Goes For A Walk

In class we are reading a story "Young Goodman Brown" this story is kinda difficult for me to understand because it has academic words. With the help of the teacher breaking it down and making it understandable this story talks about how a man name Brown leaves his village and wife for a walk in the wilderness. So once he gets close to nature and the sun is starting setting down getting dark, Brown thinks he sees shadows but its his mind playing ricks on him.

The Medium Is The Message

In class we learned of how hackers can get into your personal profiles such as social medias or emails and know your demographic. One thing i was surprised was when the teacher said we need to change our password every 30 days something i didn't knew. Its important to maintain your personal  information to yourself and be careful of what your doing online.

For Win!

A course i complete on time and very well done is the journal. The journals help get started with class its like a warm up. It also helps me get to think more deeply and express my thoughts. One thing that makes me proud when i look back at it and read some of, it makes me think how i was thinking that day, and how i went out of my mind.

I Ain't Got Time For This

My dominant allocations is to invest time, patience, and hard work in school special in classes that are needed to be able graduate. The time in my habits help me to reach my goals is to take everything more calm and organized for the future because it will get complicated with more complicated work.

The Earth On Turtle's Back

My first impression of "The earth on turtles back" was confusing but once i read more it became more understandable and got interesting. Each animal had courage of helping nature and how they were trying to help the sky-women so they could live on earth. 

Today I Was Thinking

Today i was thinking about mindfulness. In middle of the class we had 60 seconds to close our eyes and relax feel/hear our breathing.  It was my first mindfulness 60 seconds in class and i felt more calm after. It really helped.

The Making Of An Essay

My experience working on an essays are pretty stressful because i'm not good at writing and I'm not very creative. Yes, i learned something new today that could help me in the future and that's at least try to attempt it.

Hack To School

Mr. Preston's class is about English, this class consists improving communicating and doing classwork online something new to experience.

The easiest part of class is the blogs. It's simple to use and the assignments are always due on online.

The hardest part is studying memorizing the poems and recording yourself more than 10 times so it could come out with perfect with no errors.

I've learned how to use the blogger better.

My big question is why do we need to go to school 

How I Read

Reading books is one of the least things i do now, only when there's assignments. When i was in elementary reading books were mandatory. Every two weeks after finishing a book we need to take a 20 question quiz online. If failing the quiz you need to retake the quiz or reread the book and if you fail again then you get no credits for it. In this way it kept me fascinated to read and it became easy everyday to understand. The genre of book i read the most is fiction. Fiction books interest me more than any other genres.
